Polora the Feywalker, a V Blood boss guide
Now that you’ve washed your hands of Clive the Firestarter, it’s time to set your sights on the next V Rising V Blood boss: Polora the Feywalker. This boss introduces some simple mechanics and abilities to avoid that come with a heavy penalty should you get struck by them. This guide will show you everything you need to know to take down Polora the Feywalker.
Where to find Polora the Feywalker
You can find Polara relaxing and walking around in the Gleaming Meadows just north of where you encountered Clive the Firestarter. She will not be aggressive if you are in an animal form which allows you to wait out the sun or scope out the area. Polora will be patrolling this area, so finding her is generally not an issue. The surrounding area will be mostly wildlife, so little preparation is necessary.
Preparation and Polora’s moveset
This fight may be hard for your current gear level. Polora is a level 34 boss, so you’ll want the bonuses from the full Merciless Nightstalker Armor to have a higher chance of surviving the fight. You’ll also want to bring along some Vermin Salve to keep your health up. This fight can take longer than expected, so you’ll want some healing items just in case. You’ll want to fight Polora at night as the Gleaming Meadows is an open area with little shade, save for an occasional cloud or two.
Polora’s attacks are easy to avoid, so if you get struck by one of them, you’ll take a decent amount of punishment for it. The following are all of the abilities that Polora will use:
Triple Orb
Polora will cast forth three magic orbs that deal damage upon impact. These orbs will damage you if they collide with you but will heal Polora and her minions if they make contact with the orbs.
Spectral Wolf
Polora will kneel and begin to channel her magic for less than a second. She will then summon the spirit of a wolf that will quickly dash forward in a straight line toward the player. Should the wolf impact you, you’ll take damage, and the wolf will sprint back in the direction it originally came from. Should the wolf then collide with Polora or her minions, it will heal them and may dash towards the player once more. This attack can bounce off of you and chain to deal massive amounts of damage/healing in a short time. To avoid this, keep your distance from the minions that Palora summons.
Dispel
Polora will shout out loud, “begone,” to indicate that she’s casting Dispel. If you are in the small blast radius of this spell, you will suffer from a status ailment that causes you to flee in fear for a few seconds.
Summon
Polora will summon fey allies to assist her. These butterfly-winged beings will fire a single orb similar to the one Polora fires. These orbs can heal Polora and other fey allies.
Best strategy to defeat Polora the Feywalker
If you have the best gear you can acquire before gathering iron, and this fight may be a bit easier for you. It’s best to fight Polora with ranged attacks, so using Chaos Orbs and Shadowbolt alongside the crossbow are efficient. You’ll want to focus on dodging her Triple Orb attacks while landing some ranged attacks on her from a distance. Trying to face her in melee combat will risk you taking too much damage in a short time.
When she summons backup, keep the focus on dealing damage to Polora and move around so that she’s not in direct fire of any orbs. She will begin to heal her minions if you drop their health to around half, so it’s better to focus on maximizing your damage output to Polora. If the projectiles are too much to manage, you can utilize the large rocks in the area to shield yourself and get some healing.
If you plan to use melee, have Veil of Chaos equipped to give you an extra dash that can counter her Dispel ability. Using Veil of Chaos can allow you to weave in and out of her range so you can unleash a quick volley of melee strikes and then back away to wait for the next opening.
Rewards for defeating Polora the Feywalker
With enough persistence, Polora the Feywalker will succumb to your power. You’ll be awarded the Spectral Wolf and Veil of Illusion abilities. The Spectral Wolf ability is an offensive spell that sends a spectral wolf forward toward your foes, similar to how Polora used the spell. The wolf deals damage to and ensnares your target and can bounce off to other targets at random.
The Veil of Illusion ability is a travel ability that allows you to dash and evade combat for a short time. Your next attack will deal additional damage, and you’ll also leave behind an illusion that will fire projectiles that deal damage based on your magic power.
You’ll also unlock the recipes for the cosmetic structure, Garden Floors, and, more importantly, the Vampire Waygate. Vampire Waygates allow you to craft a waygate at your castle that will allow you to travel to any other waygate you’ve found prior. Using a Waygate allows you to get across the land of Vardoran much more quickly, especially when you start to travel to Dunley Farms and The Haunted Iron Mine.
Another useful recipe that you’ll earn is the Minor Garlic Resistance Brew. This brew is an Alchemy Table Recipe that allows you to brew a potion that increases your resistance to garlic. Garlic is soon to be a frequent issue once you begin your journey to Dunley Farms, so this potion will come in handy while traversing the area.
