Strong Expandable Trio Base Design (2019)
This base is primarily designed for small groups of two to three players on vanilla based servers. The base contains advanced base building techniques and features, such as compact item placements, un-drainable shotgun traps, loot spreading, door-block airlocks, anti-door camping stair block and more.
Inside the strong & expandable trio base design, you will find the following:
- 4 Small Boxes
- 2 Shelves
- Tier 3 Workbench
- Tier 2 Workbench
- Tool Cupboard
- 9 Furnaces
- 1 Campfire
- 12 Large Boxes
- 2 Sleeping Bags
This base design’s footprint is simple and easy to remember. Inside, the tight item placements can make it difficult to move through if there are too many players based, hence the trio design.
Honeycombing layers the outside of the base, while it requires raider +/- 1,572 explosive ammo to access the tool cupboard if they raid directly through the doors. To access the entire base’s loot storage, it will require +/- 2,022 explosive ammo, due to the loot spread.
This base also has the advantage of being easily expanded upon, as it is a “starter to main” build. Built in stages, each serves as a functional base. Players can live out of the starter portion and expand the design to the next step as and when the resources are available to do so.

Hey guys and welcome back to another video. In today’s video, we’re looking at a RUST base design which goes from a starter to a main base.
This base can be used from solos to trios and contains features such as an un-lootable tool cupboard and a door camping peak spot.

Just before we jump into the video, I recommend you guys check out the amino app, which you can download from Google Play or the Apple Store. It’s similar to Reddit in that it has a number of communities for various games and topics. It also allows for new and experienced players to share content, carry out polls, and post stories similar to Snapchat and Youtube.
You can look at stories by tapping on the discover tab or by searching on the top search bar. I’ve recently uploaded a RUST story containing a few tips and tricks. Which you can check out by searching my user xRawYT. Make sure you follow so you can check out all my latest stories, polls, and other posts.
Now let’s get into the video. Just before the tour, these are all the items inside the base. Four small boxes, two shelves, one tier 3 workbench, one tool cupboard, one tier 2 workbench, nine furnaces, one campfire, two sleeping bags and finally twelve large boxes, however, you can fit much more in the base if you want.
Heading into the base here, we have a sheet metal door, to get into the base as normal. We then have this low wall and stair combo, so you can check for door campers and or kill them. We have your standard door block airlock, to prevent people from going deep if you die with your doors open.
Continue into the base here, we have a large box for a drop box when you need to drop loot off quickly and get back outside. We then have your first storage area here for your worst loot, followed by lots of furnaces, your research table, and another box.
Heading through here takes you to our next loot room, containing five large boxes, a shelf, many furnaces, and another sleeping bag. Again, swap this out for whatever suits you best.
If you continue further to the center of the base, we have your repair bench, which you can swap out if you prefer. You can also replace the research table with a shelf if you need more storage. Heading fully to the center of the base, we have your work benches, a sleeping bag, and a box.
Your tool cupboard is un-lootable and completely hidden by the tier 3 workbench. Increasing the raid cost by 330 explosive ammo. I’d recommend upgrading this wall to be on the safe side as raiders could cut through here for a cheaper option.
The footprint of the base is simple, beginning with a square and two triangles for your starter base. Before expanding out, we’ll add a loot room, then another loot room, before finally adding the layer of honeycomb.
To break down the raid cost, this is the cost to raid to the TC (1,572 explosive ammo) and this is the cost for all the loot (2,022 explosive ammo).
This base is going to cost you 4.9k metal, 4.3k wood, and 18.6k stone, with an upkeep cost of 4.1k metal, 0 wood, and 3.1k stone. A more detailed costing can be found in the comments to include the deployables.
