Trying to locate the Printed Sled in Sons Of The Forest?
Similar in function to the turtle shell from The Forest, the Printed Sled is exactly what it sounds like, a 3D-printed snow sled (or toboggan, depending on where you are from) that allows players to ride down mountainsides with childish glee while completely avoiding the consequences of fall damage.
While this item may seem like a fun diversion at first glance, the sled is one of the fastest ways to get around in Sons Of The Forest and can save your life when trying to escape enemies.
How to get the Printed Sled in Sons Of The Forest
As you likely gathered from the name, the Printed Sled cannot be crafted normally. Instead, it must be printed using one of several 3D Printers inside bunkers around the map. Cycle the attached computer until you see the sled icon on the screen.
Make sure you have plenty of Printer Resin handy, though, as this sled will cost a whopping 1000ml, requiring a completely full printer to create in one go.
How to use the Printed Sled in Sons Of The Forest
With the sled equipped, jump and then press the attack button (default left-click) to hop into the sled. The player will now begin to slide downhill if at all possible, picking up or losing speed depending on the incline of the terrain.
It is possible to steer the sled while riding it by pressing the right and left movement keys (default D and A, respectively.) However, steering currently does not have much impact, especially at high speeds. Oversteering may result in sliding sideways or backward.
Press the block button to stop sliding and get off the sled (default
Mouse 2) This will only work if it is feasible for the player to stand up (i.e., when not falling.) The player will also stop sledding and stand up automatically whenever they come to a complete stop.
Tips and tricks for using the Printed Sled
The Printed Sed is easily the fastest method of downhill travel. Climbing the mountain at the center of the island and sledding to your destination is a very viable transportation method.
Fall damage is disabled while riding the sled, meaning you can fly off the top of the central mountains at mach speed with no consequences or fear of death. The player also will not take damage if they slam into a tree or other obstacle while riding the sled.
The Printed Sled is great for traveling down rivers and functioning in shallow water like in the snow. It allows players to descend waterfalls safely and even function underwater if they are in motion.
How to equip the Printed Sled
Once you have acquired it, you can equip it by:

Final thoughts on the Printed Sled
Endnight Games knew we could never get enough of sledding off mountains in the first game. The Printed Sled in Sons of the Forest offers players all the fun of flying off a mountain and dashing through the snow and prevents the broken knees and other injuries you might normally incur on your descent.
A safe way down, a fast method of travel, and a quick escape from pursuers. This sled is much more than a toy.
