Turrets 2! Rockets, Eokas and More | Quick Rust Update 1st February 2020
This RUST update video is brought to you by Shadow Frax.
In this RUST update video, Shadow Frax gives us the skinny on the latest changes that managed to sneak onto the RUST staging branch this weekend. In the spotlight, the auto turret has received a complete overhaul and now allows players to customize the weapon, ammunition types, weapon modifications, and even allows for rocket and grenade launchers. If you want to get a closer look at these changes, download the RUST staging branch via the Steam client and hop onto a staging server.
With that, you’re here to watch his video!

Greetings Survivors and Friends, Shadow Frax here with a very quick extra RUST update that snuck up onto the staging branch over the weekend. And you may have already heard about this from others, but I’m going to update you here too anyway.
Helk has just made a major change to the way turrets work, which is going to turn them into a very flexible tool indeed and personally I think makes more sense and could lead to some very interesting gameplay.
In a nutshell, when you craft one now it won’t come with the gun. You’ll have to provide your own. However, you’ll be able to use anyone you want, from an EOKA to a bolty and even a rocket launcher. The only exceptions at the moment seem to be bow, crossies, and flame throwers because after all, we already have a dedicated turret for that.
In addition to this, you can use all the usual weapon attachments, so they can function as spotlights too for instance and you can take the weapons back off of them at any time as long as they’re switched off. Expect there to be a lot of balancing to this, especially when it comes to things like range.
It’s probably best not jumping to conclusions until we know more, but I can see the high-quality cost has already been reduced to 10 instead of 40 to compensate for the lack of a built-in gun. This is live on the staging branch only right now and I’d expect it to be live on main, in some form, on the 6th of February, but stay tuned and I will, of course, give you the full low-down in next weeks update, as per usual.
As always, please leave me a comment with your thoughts down below. Positive or negative. And if you have any questions, fire away and I may be able to answer them.
