Surface RUST: What’s Coming in June’s RUST Patch
June is setting up to be more of an aesthetic update than anything else. It brings brand-new player models, which have so far caused mass outrage amongst the RUST masses, even in the Staging Branch, and a DLC pack that adds a few new skin types to the repertoire.
Just when you thought the industrial update had run its course, here comes the DLC pack that makes you think… really? There isn’t really much in the way of new content, i.e., places to go, things to see. The new items we will go over are mostly just skins, even though some of those item types were unable to be skinned prior to this patch.
The one weapon that might come through, the M16A2, is still in the very introductory stages of testing, and literally an LR-300 Assault Rifle re-skin, so don’t get your hopes up there either. There is a nice non-craftable armor set coming. On with the shenanigans.
Ballistic Armo(u)r

The largest known and genuinely new batch of content coming in June is a 3-piece kit replacement, dubbed Ballistic (vest, leg armour, helmet). I call it a kit replacement because its base statistics are better than the current go-to, Metal Facemask, Chest Plate and Roadsign Kilt, until things like armor slotting come into play. More on their stats below in the new gear section.
Modes of Acquisition
- Crafting: Not currently craftable
- Loot Sources: Currently shows up on the elite crate loot tables, as well as in locked crates.
- Research: Cannot be learned via Research Tables.
- Purchase: Cannot be bought in-game from NPC vendors. May be purchased from applicable player shops.
- Console Access: Spawnable via F1 console on servers with appropriate permissions.
Industrial DLC

Not to sound like too much of an advertisement, but we’d look pretty dumb to gloss over the massive DLC being released in June. Each item will be gone over on its own in more detail later in the article further on, but what we’re guessing will be under this one large DLC flag is as follows;
- Half Height Industrial Shelves
- Industrial Auto Turret
- Industrial Electric Furnace
- Industrial Garage Door
- Industrial Storage Horizontal Barrel
- Industrial Storage Vertical Barrel
- Industrial Torch
- Large Industrial Furnace
- Salvaged Industrial Shelves
- Single Shallow Industrial Wall Shelves
- 6 Wallpaper Skins
- 2 Spraycan Sprays
- 2 Emojis
Copy & Paste Loadout Deletion warning
Good news; confirmation popups have been added when deleting loadouts and copypastes files so that you don’t accidentally wipe more than intended.
Server Sorting Optimization
The distance restriction when using the server sorted in the menu has had its consideration window reduced from 1000km to 150km, as it pertains to which servers to show first when populations are equal.
Cave Electrical Bug
Straight talk, as of the time of this reporting, cave electrical connections are still completely bugged. There are commits that indicate its being worked on, but dev discord chats have reported that it’s simply not that big of a priority. Don’t get your hopes up that cave electrical connecting will be fixed by June. Last minute patch committed implies that cave electrical will be fixed by Junes 2026 update.
Unity Upgrade
Anytime you upgrade to a new version of Unity, things are going to change, whether you anticipate them or not. We’re already seeing small changes being made to existing RUST systems to adapt and make the rollout smoother, but players should probably expect things to break from time to time. Performance and stability are both important to the progression of a game, and Unity 6 should definitely help.
Mystery DLCs?
While not coming in June, these three commit links certainly have our attention, popping up in sequence and not providing any real detail. I figured I’d add them as a mini easter egg hunt of sorts.

Updated Player Models

Just when you finally started to find comfort in how ugly your player model was, here comes the game developer, throwing you into someone else’s skin. Rumor has it there might be some customization at some point on this in the future, but in the meantime, here are some images to haunt your dreams until June.
Hackweek Speculation
Since there is less substance to June’s patch than many in recent memory, I figured we could add some of the Hackweek commit info that is just speculative at this point. I’m not saying that any of this will ever make it into the game, but some of it is neat.
A combined building plan for land/sea structures.
Supply drops that call in different types of loot instead of just the standard combo drop.
Flotsam spawning doors on beaches that may be collected and used.
Kamikaze drones. Yeah, we said it.
Updated Fuse icon. Not sure if this one is an improvement.
This one is likely making it into the game in June, the basic mortar UI has changed quite a bit.

A HQM ground pickup would be pretty cool. Also not likely, but hopeful.
Useful lootable crates around lakes? Yes please. Didn’t make it onto staging, though.
This one is really intriguing, adding a few things like harvestable tree apples and honey infused bandages to bridge the gap between default Bandages and Medical Syringes. Hope they do something with this.
Gear, Weapons & Loadout Updates
We went over most of what’s coming above, so we will relegate additional information below with the standard item description as it appears in game. Some of them could be placeholder information, especially the new rifle. We’ll have them added to the item database as they flush out.
New Items
- BDU Pants – “A pair of standard issue battle dress uniform pants. Old, worn, stained, but provides moderate protection.” Reskin of Pants
- BDU Shirt – “A standard issue battle dress uniform shirt. Old, worn, and stained, but provides moderate protection” Reskin of Hoodie
- Ballistic Helmet – “Ballistic helmet with superior protection.” New item, military-equivalent armor that cannot be crafted. It must be found, hence its exclusivity justifies its slightly boasted protections over the Metal Facemask. It packs 65% projectile protection, 15 higher than the metal facemask, as well as better scores in bite, cold protection and explosion damage reductions.
- Ballistic Leg Armour – “A pair of ballistic leg armour pieces. Worn, used, and a bit grubby, but highly protective.” New item, military-equivalent armor that cannot be crafted. It must be found, hence its exclusivity justifies its slightly boasted protections over the Road Sign Kilt. It packs 30% projectile protection, 10 higher than the kilt, as well as better scores in bite, cold protection and explosion damage reductions.
- Ballistic Vest – “A standard issue military ballistic vest. Worn, used, and dirty, but highly protective.” New item, military-equivalent armor that cannot be crafted. It must be found, hence its exclusivity justifies its slightly boasted protections over the Metal Chest Plate. It packs 35% projectile protection, 10 higher than the chestplate, as well as better scores in bite, cold protection and explosion damage reductions.
- Bowless Crossbow – “A bowless crossbow for fans of DIY” Crossbow skin, with no protruding arms to block your view.
- Half Height Industrial Shelves – “Half height industrial shelves for stacking”
- Industrial Auto Turret – “This automated electric sentry turret will engage and neutralize any moving targets it has line of sight to. You must equip it with a projectile weapon and the corresponding ammunition. Note: The turret will search for targets in a 180 degree arc facing *you* when you place it. Requires 10 power.”
- Industrial Electric Furnace – “An electrical version of a furnace that uses electricity instead of a fuel source.” Electric Furnace skin
- Industrial Garage Door – “A garage door that rolls up and down.” Garage Door skin
- Industrial Storage Horizontal Barrel – “Horizontal barrel to store industrial materials.” Horizontal Barrel skin
- Industrial Storage Vertical Barrel – “Vertical barrel to store industrial materials.” Vertical Barrel skin
- Industrial Torch – “An old mining lamp used as a torch. Lights your way at night and can be used as a weapon” Torch skin, currently unfinished on staging.
- Large Industrial Furnace – “Used to smelt large quantities of ore. Difficult to secure, must be placed on terrain.” Large Furnace skin
- M16A2 Rifle – “Stalk your enemies with this high powered light assault rifle.” Likely not ready for June patch, but we’re including it here because they’re pouring a lot of resources into it in the final week
- Salvaged Industrial Shelves – “Shelves for item stacking” Salvaged Shelf skin
- Single Shallow Industrial Wall Shelves – “A shallow industrial wall shelf for small item stacking”
What’s Next?
The 2026 Roadmap continues to deliver pretty much what to anticipate, with a few detours here and there. Aside from animal additions, new work on bridges, and the Apartment Complex monument, the new Game Room DLC is starting to intrigue us quite a bit. Who doesn’t want a pool table and Russian roulette in their base?
As with all topics we cover, these subjects are highly subject to change at the whim of the game developer, and we will endeavor to keep the information as current as possible
