Tin Can Alarm

The Tin Can Alarm is an alarm trap in RUST that was added to the game in August 2024. Similar to other tripwire mechanisms in the real world, the device’s premise is that it can be deployed in any number of situations to act as an auditory early warning system to those in close proximity of it being tripped.

As mentioned above, the device uses a stationary stick-base platform from which a very short (6-10m) cord may be run. Deployment at this time is fairly barebones, and players may attach the end of the cord at any length up to the limit to the ground, trees, or other stationary platforms. Once deployed, the trap will emit an auditory bell noise with a very limited range whenever anything moves through the wire. The wire becomes very hard to see once deployed.

At this time, anything may set off the trap, which will remain up and functioning afterwards, including animals. The can platform may be obstructed by bushes, but the wire cannot be placed THROUGH solid objects. Breaking the trap will make an audible wood-crashing noise. Tin Can Alarms are currently able to be placed in monuments.
