Timer

The RUST Timer is a deployable electrical gateway (trigger) device that allows for electrical current passthrough for a pre-determined amount of time (set by the player) when the trigger is activated.

While using a Wire Tool to check available ports, players will find the standard Output as well as Toggle On and Electric Input. Timers function much in the same way that a Switch does, except in pre-determined bursts of ‘On’.

By default, timers are set to 10-second intervals in which activating them will allow power passthrough, but this can be changed by looking at them while they’re powered, holding the E key, and selecting Set Time. This numerical representation is in real-life seconds, so 60 would be 1 minute and so forth.  Once activated and the time has elapsed, power will be cut, and the switch will turn off.

Timers are found in an assortment of low-to-mid-tier crates, as well as dropped from many scientist types. RUST players may learn them directly or through a Scrap investment into the Tier 1 Workbench tech tree.
