The Stone Hatchet is a default blueprint available to everyone on every beach from the moment of spawning and is used to gather wood in RUST. It requires no fuel to operate but takes consistent durability loss while being used to hit trees or any other entity.
Unlike Chainsaws, the stone hatchet will require players to strike the trees manually to bring them down.
Stone hatchets may be found in boxes and mine carts around caves but aren’t obtainable by any other method other than crafting.
It is pretty normal to use a hatchet as a melee weapon, sometimes going so far as to use it as a soft-side raiding tool. We don’t recommend using a stone hatchet in combination with gathering teas due to its limited resource-gathering capacity.
