Spot Light

Overview

The Spot Light is a deployable illumination item in RUST, introduced with the September 2025 Update, as part of the Exhibit Decor Pack. Mounted on walls and flat surfaces, it is the first light source in the game to offer directional aiming similar to CCTV cameras, giving players complete control over where their lighting is focused.

Unlike static lamps and ceiling lights, the Spot Light can be mounted on most player-built surfaces and angled in any direction after placement. Using a Hammer, players can adjust the spotlight’s field of illumination, making it an ideal choice for base defense, area lighting, and creative builds.

The Spot Light requires 5 units of power to function and provides a passthrough option for chaining with other electrical components.

How to Acquire the Spot Light

• DLC Requirement: Available to users who purchase the Exhibit Decor Pack from the Steam Store.
• Research Cost: Cannot be researched.
• Crafting Requirements: 50 Metal Fragments
• Workbench Level: Requires Workbench Level 1
• Blueprint Availability: Cannot be blueprinted.

To Craft the Spot Light:

1. Your Steam account must have the Exhibit Decor Pack enabled.
2. Ensure you have 50 Metal Fragments in your inventory
3. Stand near a Workbench Level 1 or greater
4. Press the Tab button in-game to open the crafting menu
5. Type “Spot Light” in the search bar
6. Click on its icon, then click the “Craft” button

Usage & Mechanics (How It Works)

• Deployment:
  • Can be deployed on most player-built surfaces (walls, ceilings, floors).
  • The mounted form factor makes it space-efficient compared to the Tripod Spot Light.
• Directional Control:
  • Uses the camera-toggle system for aiming.
  • Players can use a Hammer to adjust direction after placement.
  • Capable of illuminating doors, corridors, gates, or large open areas.
• Electrical Connections:
  • Power In: 1 port
  • Passthrough: 1 port
  • Power Usage: 5 units
• Durability: 100 Hit Points
• Repairing: Requires Metal Fragments
