Spoiled Produce

Spoiled Produce is an edible item found in RUST and is part of the spoilage system that was added to the game in the March 2025 update. Spoilage occurs as the direct result of not refrigerating food, and all items that would seemingly be impacted by decay in the real world.

Spoilage of any produce will take place, unless otherwise inserted into a powered Fridge, after 48 hours. This variable is highly subject to change.

While placed within the Fridge, the spoilage timer (visible in the same window as the item description) will pause. There isn’t currently a way to reset the timer, and it will continue its downward tick towards spoilage as soon as it is removed from cooling. Once the timer reaches zero, all foods convert to a “Spoiled” status.

When consumed, the Spoiled Produce will negate 50 Calories and Hydration, as well as add 10 points of “Poison” status.
