Spoiled Big Cat Meat

Spoiled Big Cat Meat is an edible item found in RUST, although not recommended, and is a spoiled byproduct of Raw or Cooked Big Cat Meat. Facepunch added the concept of spoilage to RUST with the March 2025 update as the direct result of not refrigerating (keeping food in a powered Fridge) raw and cooked meat.

Spoilage will take place after the following periods;

• You have a 24-hour window for cooked meat to insert the cooked product into the powered Fridge.
• You have a six-hour window for raw meat to insert into a powered Fridge.

While placed within the Fridge, the spoilage timer (visible in the same window as the item description) will pause. There isn’t currently a way to reset the timer, and it will continue its downward tick towards spoilage as soon as it is removed from cooling. Once the timer reaches zero, all meat types transition from their cooked or raw status to a “spoiled” status.

When consumed, the Spoiled Big Cat Meat restores 10 calories and two hydration points, but it induces vomiting and inflicts considerable damage to the player, adding a +10 poison status ailment that is invisible.
