Small Stash
The RUST Small Stash, an outdoor player deployable loot-hiding device, is a default blueprint and craftable by anyone as soon as they spawn. Its primary purpose is the temporary hiding of up to 6 items at a time.
Players may deploy them on the ground on relatively flat surfaces that they have proper Tool Cupboard authorization on. They cannot be picked up once placed. Stashes do exactly as their name implies – stash things.
Once deployed on the ground, players may insert as many items as they like into them up to the limit. Once filled to desired capacity, staring directly at the small stash and holding the E key will allow for players to Hide them. The small stash then retreats into the ground and will remain hidden until looking directly at it and giving ample time for the game trigger mechanism to allow it to rise again.
RUST players are warned ahead of time that stashes aren’t a failproof method of hiding loot as they are quite easily damaged and destroyed. Broken stashes will deposit their contents on top of the ground where they were buried in a small grey loot bag.
Finding small stashes in a suspected area is also quite easy. Players may swat at the ground with a Hammer until they heard a definitive thud noise, usually followed by the stash rising to the surface.
Players may also use a Building Plan to place a foundation over the suspected area. High foundations placed in this way will also break the small stash and reveal its loot. Most notably, stashes within compounds are always under threat due to the MLRS system.
