SKS

The SKS is an accurate, mid-damage, and range rifle based on the real-world Soviet-developed Samozanryadny Karabin Sistemy, a gas-operated Woodstock carbine weapon. Originally designed as a direct reskin of the Semi-Automatic Rifle (SAR), the gun has since undergone a significant overhaul and was introduced in the Armed and Animated Update, elevating its stats to be more range-friendly and its Workbench Tier status from 2 to 3. This weapon will become one of the game’s most used, versatile, and craftable weapons.

While not particularly suited for use with the 8x Zoom Scope, the SKS can have longer-range shots than your standard SAR or even the Assault Rifle. The recoil is controlled by the player’s rate of fire as the gun isn’t fully automatic, and the gun deals damage just slightly higher but comparable to the LR-300. It has a default magazine capacity of 15, which may be extended to 19 with an Extended Magazine.

Players may research it directly or invest Scrap into the tier 3 workbench tech tree. Like other weapons on this workbench, it may also be acquired rarely as a drop from high-tier scientists, military, and locked crates.

SKSs are a popular option for Auto Turret defense systems. Compared to other tier 3 weapons, they have a relatively low crafting cost and are viewed as considerably more disposable.

The SKS may fire 134 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Rounds before it breaks if never fired.

How to craft a SKS in RUST

You must have first unlocked the SKS on the tech tree or memorized it as a blueprint. Once either condition is met, follow these steps to craft a SKS:

Gather the necessary crafting materials, which are 200 Metal Fragments, 1 Semi Automatic Body, 2 Metal Springs, and 12 High Quality Metal.
Verify the crafting materials are in your inventory.
Standing next to a Level 3 Workbench, press Q to open the crafting screen.
Now, type “SKS” in the search bar and click on the SKS icon.
Then, in the lower right-hand corner, press the Craft button.
Wait for 30 seconds, and you’ll have crafted a SKS.

Once the SKS has finished crafting, it will appear inside your inventory, ready for use.

How to use a SKS in RUST

To use a SKS in RUST, you must:

Add the SKS to any hotbar slot.
Click on the hotbar location to activate the slot.
Next, reload the weapon with your ammunition of choice.
Utilize whichever applicable weapon attachments you wish for customization and purpose.
Hold Right Mouse to aim down sights and press Left Mouse to fire.

It’s important to note that when a SKS is used to fire upon any target, it will lower the SKS’s durability. When used with Explosive Ammunition, this impact to the weapon is increased exponentially.

How to spawn an SKS in RUST

To spawn a SKS in RUST, you must:

Connect to a RUST server where you have the admin or moderator role.
Once in the game, place your cursor where you wish to spawn the SKS.
Press F1 to open the in-game console.
Type into the console the following: spawn SKS
Then press enter.

The SKS will have spawned into the game based on your mouse cursor’s location. The console will echo back a success message that looks something like this: spawned SKS[#] at (#, #, #).
