Sheet Metal Double Door
The Sheet Metal Double Door is one of RUST‘s most common doorway components since it is craftable by default.
With 250 hit points, the door will take 1 Timed Explosive Charge or 63 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo to break down. It’s not as strong as its Armored counterpart, but for most people, the sheet metal double door is the go-to home security option for starter and main bases for the duration of a wipe.
While not as commonly used on starter bases as the Sheet Metal Door, the sheet metal double door is often used on main bases due to the fact it uses the same door frame as the garage door. Players will often use the sheet metal double door as the best option for filling the doorway gap until they’ve researched the blueprint for the garage door and can replace the double door with it.
The sheet metal double door occupies a large doorway frame opening, unlike the smaller sheet metal door of similar name and durability. While the double door can take quite a beating, it’s important to note that the door is only as strong as the door frame on which it’s placed. Should you place it on a twig frame and that frame is destroyed, so too is the door. Many players fall victim to forgetting to upgrade their door frames before placing their doors and moving on and are met with an ugly surprise when a neighbor or raider blows through their doors with little effort.
The door is only defensive if paired with a Key Lock or Code Lock to prevent unauthorized entry.
The sheet metal double door is frequently skinned with a wide variety of styles to choose from. Players can collect different skins for the double door to help conceal their external doors, help them find their way around a darkened base at night, identify loot or storage rooms, and much more.
