The RUST Pump Shotgun (pumpy) is a mid-ranged, mid-rate of fire gun in RUST. They are the best craftable shotgun type and are one of two weapons of this type that can fire more than two shots in quick succession.
This weapon functions best as a raid defense tool, unleashing virtually impassable barrages of pellets and fire when paired with 12 Gauge Incendiary Shells. They are also extremely deadly when used with slugs from deceptively large distances.
Shotgun weapon types, in general, aren’t of much use over 10 meters unless using a 12 Gauge Slug, a compact pellet shot instead of spread like the other ammunition types. Pump shotguns are the second-best shotgun, performing considerably better than Eoka Pistols, Double Barrel Shotguns, Waterpipe Shotguns, and honestly rival Spas-12 Shotguns in all-around performance. The latter has less recoil.
Pump shotguns may be acquired from a number of low-to-mid-tier crates and scientists of most types. Players may research them directly or invest Scrap into a tier 2 workbench for acquisition via the tech tree.
The pump shotgun accepts the following bullet types: 12 Gauge Buckshot, 12 Gauge Incendiary Shell, 12 Gauge Slug, and Handmade Shell.
Pump shotguns are not a good option for Auto Turret defense systems.
