The RUST MP5A4 (MP5) is a low-to-mid ranged, medium-to-high rate of fire gun in RUST. They are considered high-tier endgame weapon choices, commonly used as the precursor to the Assault Rifle.
The weapon is probably one of the most versatile choices, being commonplace for both PVE situations like Oil Rig and other monuments and a favorite in PVP. It has a considerably better single-tap range over the Custom SMG. It is a favorite due to its ease of acquisition, and relatively low crafting cost (compared to other tier 3 weapons) once learned.
The MP5 has a larger magazine size over the comparable custom SMG, having roughly 20% more ammo per clip. The rate of fire is also slightly less, but the recoil is more manageable. Some call the MP5 a ‘mini LR-300’ due to its recoil and fire rate.
MP5s can be acquired from a number of military or locked crate types and scientists of limited types. They are highly sought after as early game weapons and can quickly turn the tide on wipe day when acquired from airdrops. Players may research them directly or invest considerable Scrap into a Tier 3 Workbench for acquisition via the tech tree.
The MP5 accepts the following bullet types: HV Pistol Ammo, Incendiary Pistol Bullet, Pistol Bullet.
In addition, this weapon is a prime choice for setting up Auto Turret defense systems.
