Hot Air Balloon Armor

The Hot Air Balloon Armor is an item for enhancing the Hot Air Balloon vehicle. This item is an optional, equipable cabin cover for the standard Hot Air Balloon.  When equipped, the armor provides additional protection for the cabin, adds additional health, and even provides a door. Strangely, once equipped, the balloon armor cannot be removed again, as you might expect it to be.

How does the Hot Air Balloon Armor work?

At its core, the balloon armor does precisely what it advertises. It provides a vulnerable hot air balloon basket with much-needed side-wall partitions to protect the pilot and passengers. The balloon’s health jumps from 1500 to 2500 health points when adding the armor. This is a big jump in the survivability of the balloon, as it takes over 30 SAM Site ammo to bring the balloon down, up from 20.

The door may be opened or closed like any other unlocked door. Unfortunately, it cannot be locked currently with any player-crafted lock.

How to get Hot Air Balloon Armor?

You can learn the Hot Air Balloon Armor directly from the tier 1 workbench tech tree for 150 total scrap in total or via a research table for 75 scrap.  In addition to this, they are pretty regularly dropped in roadside brown boxes and can be purchased directly from Bandit Camp 70 Scrap.

How do you equip Hot Air Balloon Armor?

Players may only equip this armor while the basket is solidly on the ground.  While having the balloon armor in your inventory, face the red button that provides the Burn lift and press E when #HAB.UPGRADE.ARMOR appears, or if fuel is in the tank, hold B to open a menu wheel to display the upgrade option.  You have now seriously beefed up your ride.
