Hitch & Trough

The Hitch & Trough, while not directly used by players, is an additional storage box of sorts and is primarily used to feed stationary ridable horses in RUST. For more details on horses in general, check out our Horse Guide!

The hitch & trough deploys onto semi-flat ground or built foundations, generally near a player’s base. When the player no longer uses their horse, the horse is left facing the front of the trough. Food of any type can then be placed within the trough’s inventory, and the horse(s) will automatically eat when necessary, extending their life and causing them to create Horse Dung behind them.

Troughs are craftable by default, with all players knowing the blueprint. It may not be purchased or found in any other way.

This item may be recycled for a small amount of wood.
