The High External Wooden Gate is a deployable construction item, typically used as a gate mechanism with High External Wooden Walls, allowing players to pass in and out of a player-made compound. They perform the same basic functions as other types of doorways, accepting a Key or Code Lock so authorized players can only open and access them on a much larger scale.
Barricades take an assortment of forms in RUST, ranging from tiny wooden walls that are barely sufficient to duck behind to mammoth wood gates such as this, fit for protecting a fortress from invaders.
High External Wooden Gates are a tier 1 blueprint and are significantly easier to find than their stone counterparts and much cheaper to craft. They provide considerably less protection for players and clans that wish to ‘compound.’
While having 500 hit points, the wooden gate is highly susceptible to flame raiding via Flame Throwers or Incendiary Rockets or broken with 98 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo.
When used in conjunction with other mid to top-tier barricades, such as the High External Wooden Wall, they create a semi-hard-to-penetrate barrier between the outside world and the base they surround. Unlike the wall, players may not deploy Wooden Ladders directly onto gates or other doors.
High external wooden gates can be looted from a small assortment of low to mid-tier loot crates and dropped from scientists around the map. They require a small Scrap investment to learn via the tier 1 workbench.
They do not add upkeep costs to bases that use them and will remain in place without decay if they are under the effect radius of a Tool Cupboard.
