High External Frontier Wall

The High External Frontier Wall is a deployable construction item in RUST that allows players to place it individually or join multiple pieces together to form a larger wall. It is one of the first ever High External Skins, available for the High External Wooden Wall.

Barricades take various forms in RUST, ranging from tiny, barely sufficient wooden walls to duck behind to mammoth wood walls such as this, fit for protecting a fortress from invaders.

High External Frontier Walls are a tier 1 blueprint, and an exact defensive replica of the High External Wooden Wall, with one notable exception. Instead of having barbed wall tops that prevent and repel players from easily climbing or jumping over, the Frontier variety is equipped with walkways instead. These walkways facilitate both player perching and the potential deployment of defensive entities, such as turrets or traps.

They are much cheaper to craft and provide considerably less protection for players and clans that wish to ‘compound’ than their stone counterparts. While having 500 hit points, wooden wall types are highly susceptible to flame raiding via Flame Throwers or Incendiary Rockets, or broken with roughly 90 Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo.

When used in conjunction with other mid to top-tier barricades, such as the High External Wooden Gate, they create a semi-hard-to-penetrate barrier between the outside world and the base they surround. Unlike the gate, players may deploy Wooden Ladders directly onto walls.

They do not add upkeep costs to bases that use them and will remain in place without decay if they are under the effect radius of a Tool Cupboard.

How to obtain the High External Frontier Wall in RUST

The High External Frontier Wall may only be obtained (HIGHLY SUBJECT TO CHANGE) through purchasing the Frontier DLC and knowing the High External Wooden Wall, for which it is a skin.

How to place and upgrade a High External Frontier Wall.

Placing any high external wall or gate can be a challenge, especially when considering geographical features such as boulders, cliffs, and disparities at either end. With these things considered, follow these instructions:

  1. Ensure that you are in a position where you have Building Privilege and that you can maintain this privilege at all times, particularly when installing high walls and gates. Those pieces without a privilege cover will either block you from placing them, or will cause that section of the wall or gate to decay later.
  2. Line up the starting position (or continued spot) where you wish to place the wall section. You can press and hold the Shift key to disable auto-snapping for more precise placement. This is especially useful when there are height deviations between wall sections.
  3. Once you have confirmed that no gaps exist, or that placement is ideal for your particular situation, and the pending wall is in a blue translucent state, hold the Left Mouse Button for 3 seconds to place.
  4. If you wish to upgrade from a Wooden High Wall or Gate section to the stronger Stone variety, simply approach the wooden piece in question with a Hammer in hand, and with adequate building privilege and the Stone Wall or Gate piece in your inventory, hold the Right Mouse Button to bring up a menu wheel.
  5. From this menu wheel, you can choose to Destroy the placed wall if done within building privilege in the last 10 minutes,
  6. Or Upgrade to Stone if you have the correct item as mentioned.
