Fire Arrow

The Fire Arrow in RUST is a variation of the standard Wooden Arrow yet produces more damage at the cost of increased crafting materials and reduced range before dropping off.

The flaming arrowhead of this arrow can make hitting a target more difficult over distance with the Hunting Bow, Compound Bow, or Crossbow. Like other incendiary ammunition types, fire arrows deal more damage to players wearing metal or heavy metal armor sets than wooden or High Velocity Arrows. These could be categorized as a PVP weapon type.

In addition to dealing more damage to armored players, flame arrows also produce area of effect damage around their target of impact and leave a flame on the ground or the entity they’re shot above. This makes this arrow type a viable raiding tool early game for breaking things like Wooden Doors or Tool Cupboards (see our raiding tutorial).

The fire arrow is quite costly to make and requires researching the item or investing considerable scrap into the Tier 1 Workbench tech tree to craft. The most common method of finding a fire arrow is through small red toolboxes; found on ocean floats, monuments, the underground tunnel system, or roadside trash piles.

Players who don’t intend to use fire arrows frequently recycle them due to their Low-Grade Fuel and Cloth yield, which are vital early game resources for crafting things such as furnaces and Sleeping Bags.
