The RUST Double Barrel Shotgun (DB) is a low-ranged, low-rate-of-fire gun in RUST with considerable firepower. They are commonly used in conjunction with the Revolver during early wipe combat and are the ultimate ‘grub’ gun.
Due to their incredible upfront power, DBs are renowned for their capacity to drop even heavily geared players before exhausting both barrels. Unfortunately, the range requirement on the DB requires you to be practically in the face of the target to cause considerable damage.
Shotgun weapon types, in general, aren’t of much use over 10 meters unless using a 12 Gauge Slug, a compact pellet shot instead of spread like the other ammunition types. DBs are in the middle of the pack regarding their weapon type, performing considerably better than Eoka Pistols and Waterpipe Shotguns but not as well as Pump Shotguns and Spas-12 Shotguns. The latter have higher magazine capacity and less recoil.
DBs may be acquired from a number of low-to-mid-tier crates and scientists of most types.
They are used through the first few days of wipe but are commonly replaced as soon as possible by higher-tier weapons (except as door camping implements). Players may research them directly or invest Scrap into a Tier 1 Workbench for acquisition via the tech tree.
The DB accepts the following bullet types: 12 Gauge Buckshot, 12 Gauge Incendiary Shell, 12 Gauge Slug, and Handmade Shell.
DBs are not a good option for Auto Turret defense systems.
