Cooking Workbench
The Cooking Workbench is a new deployable crafting station introduced in RUST’s March 2025 Crafting Update, designed to add advanced cooking capabilities and food recipes into the game.
Cooking Workbench Appearance
The Cooking Workbench features a sturdy wooden structure with various cooking implements and storage options integrated into its design. It includes a multi-burner stovetop, cookware such as a Dutch oven, utensil holders, shelves stocked with kitchenware, and an integrated brick oven, providing a comprehensive cooking setup and appearance. A space underneath the Cooking Workbench allows for a Small Wood Box, just like the Research Table, to maximize the storage space in your base.
How to Get and Use the Cooking Workbench
To craft the Cooking Workbench, players must first obtain its blueprint, which players can research at a Tier 1 Workbench. Once deployed within a base where the player has Tool Cupboard (TC) authorization, the Cooking Workbench allows for crafting various advanced food items. Players can interact with the workbench to access its crafting menu, select desired recipes, and prepare them using the required ingredients.
Compatible Items and Recipes
The Cooking Workbench expands the range of craftable food items, introducing new recipes that provide unique buffs and benefits. Some of the notable additions include:
- Pies: A variety of pies such as Apple, Bear, Chicken, Fish, Hunter’s, Pork, Pumpkin, and Survivor’s Pie, each offering different stat boosts or effects.
- Bread: Crafted using wheat, a new farmable crop, bread serves as a versatile food item and can also be used to enhance horse manure production, which is beneficial for farming.
- Teas: New teas like Cooling Tea and Warming Tea provide resistance to extreme temperatures, aiding survival in harsh biome environments.
Additionally, the Cooking Workbench supports recipes previously crafted at the Mixing Table, consolidating various culinary crafting processes into a single station.
Maintaining a diverse food supply has become critical with the introduction of the food spoilage mechanics into RUST. The Cooking Workbench enables players to create food items that satisfy hunger and grant beneficial effects, enhancing players’ overall gameplay by providing strategic advantages during exploration, combat, and survival situations. Food becomes more than a simple bar/meter to satisfy and truly becomes a strategic part of survival.
