There are several steps you can take to improve your chainsaw gameplay when farming. First, combine your chainsaw with drinking a wood gathering tea. Doing this just once with a Pure Wood Tea will likely net you enough wood to last until wipe.
When refueling the chainsaw, watch the small icon on your hotbar. Once the number on the fuel gauge increases, switch out the chainsaw for another item on the bar, then switch back. Doing this will skip a good part of the chainsaw’s lengthy refuel animation.
If you need High Quality Metal, Gears, or Metal Blades, the chainsaw is ideal for recycling. For the low price of 125 scrap at the Outpost monument, you can pick up gears and high-quality metal for much cheaper than producing gears manually.
