Chainlink Fence Gate
The Chainlink Fence Gate is a building component that players must craft and then place into an open wall frame. When locked, the chainlink fence gate stops players from passing through but does nothing to obstruct light, gunfire, or a player’s reach.
Players with access to the Key Lock or Code Lock can freely open the gate’s door and pass through.
If you have loot-boxes or pickupable components within arms reach of the gate, a player pressed up against the gate can pick up or interact with them.
The primary operation of chainlink fence gates is to block off enemies from accessing a base component outside while providing players easy access to a semi-secured area.
As chainlink fence gates do not block as much light as other wall components, they are ideal for protecting player-run outdoor farms and stopping players from destroying Large Solar Panels.
Keep in mind that players can reach through the gate, making sure your farm’s Small Planter Boxes and Large Planter Boxes are at least half a foundation away from the chainlink fence gate line not to steal your harvest.
The gate also does very little to block gunfire. However, the gate can stop Rockets and other explosives. Occasional bullets may hit the wall frame or posts, but most will make it through. So you can never depend on a gate to protect you from gunfire.
Chainlink fence gates have a relatively small amount of health. However, they benefit from being immune to fire damage and resistant to melee and tool damage. In addition, once you upgrade the wall frame you’re using beyond Wood, a gate is effectively flameproof.
However, a minimal amount of Explosives will make short work of the chainlink fence gate.
Both the chainlink fence and gate have meager drop rates and are unavailable at any of the Outpost or Bandit Camp shops.
The best way to get your hands on the blueprint is to check player-run shops, as they will often go up early for cheap, and you can order them safely through the RUST Marketplace.
