Big Cat Pie
The Big Cat Pie is an edible item in RUST acquired through crafting. It is a Cooking Workbench-dependent item made from a recipe requiring two Cooked Big Cat Meat, three Wheat, and two Jars of Honey.
Pie item types have three primary purposes and/or functions. Every kind of pie can be eaten by default, though it has to be placed in the hotbar, equipped as you would a weapon, and then consumed by clicking the Left Mouse Button. Doing so will result in gaining some health, hydration, and calories, as listed below. Alternatively, they function as practical weapons that players can throw by equipping and, instead, clicking the Right Mouse Button to hurl at a player or NPC. Pies may be picked back up after the fact and reused in this manner until they glitch out or are picked up by someone else.
Finally, depending on the pie type, all pies give a status buff.
In the case of the Big Cat Pie, players receive Hunter Vision for a 15-minute window. This status buff allows players to track and hunt animals more efficiently, providing a real-time, colored, glowing overlay that projects a direct path from the player to the nearest animal, following in that animal’s walking path. The coloration of the path is different from animal to animal, with what is known currently below;
- White – Chicken / Stag
- Red – Panther / Tiger / Boar / Polar Bear / Brown Bear / Shark / Crocodile / Wolf
Snakes are currently excluded from pathing, as their movement is more of a teleport than actual pathing.
When consumed, Big Cat Pie restores 80 calories and 15 hydration and instantly heals the player by two health. When thrown at a naked player, a successful body shot inflicts 10 damage, while a lucky headshot deals a whopping 15 damage.
