The RUST Patrol Helicopter Command
The RUST helicopter is a special event that is run automatically on vanilla servers every 2 to 3 hours. The helicopter can be triggered to run by a RUST administrator or moderator using the RUST Patrol Helicopter command. On vanilla RUST servers, the Patrol Helicopter is controlled by the server’s AI and patrols the RUST game world. It patrols the game world and flies randomly from monument to monument. The helicopter is looking to engage players that are armed with weapons, advanced tools, or 3 or more pieces of clothing.
The RUST helicopter was recently upgraded from firing bullets and rockets, to also including a napalm rocket that causes the fire to encapsulate its target.
Why spawn the RUST helicopter
RUST Admins who want to spawn the Patrol Helicopter are often looking to increase the threat level of those wandering the game world. Sometimes, they’re looking to deter base camping, door camping, or wanting to strike fear into the players logged in.
The helicopter can be used to help deter such things or, as many RUST admins will encounter, players requesting the helicopter to be spawned into the game. Established players who have built special helicopter bases want the chance to take it down. If they’re successful, they will have a chance to reap the rewards. Everyone else online will also have a chance, so be ready for ambushes. The RUST Patrol Helicopter can be shot down and has a lucrative loot table worth the risk.
RUST Patrol Helicopter Command Syntax
There are three commands with which the RUST Patrol Helicopter can be spawned.
Some things to keep in mind for all of the helicopter spawn commands:
- Depending on the size of the map and the command used the Patrol Helicopter may not be visible or audible for some time. This is due to the range at which the Patrol Helicopter can spawn away from your current location.
- If you enter the command more than once, you will en queue additional RUST helicopters to spawn.
- Be very careful spawning helicopters as they can cause quite a bit of havoc to the server’s players.
- The helicopters will cause serious performance issues for a server if too many are spawned in at one time.
RUST Patrol Helicopter Command 1 of 3
The first available command will call in a single Patrol Helicopter from a random direction to patrol the game world monuments. This command will usually take 1 to 2 minutes before the helicopter appears in the game world. The command cannot be used in RCON and requires being logged into the game server and issuing the command from the F1 console.

RUST Patrol Helicopter Command 2 of 3
The second available command will call in a single Patrol Helicopter from a random direction. The helicopter will fly directly to the location of the admin or moderator player when the command is invoked. This location will be patrolled for a brief period, and when complete, the helicopter will continue on to its random monument flight path. This command will usually take 1 to 2 minutes before the helicopter appears visible or audible in the game world. The command can only be run from the in-game console, as it requires the exact coordinates of a player to fly to.
Use the command below:
heli.calltome
RUST Patrol Helicopter Command 3 of 3
The third available command will “drop” a single Patrol Helicopter in the exact location of the admin or moderator player when invoking the command. The helicopter will patrol this area for a brief period, then continue on to its random monument flight path. This command will instantly spawn the helicopter into the game world. The command can only be run from the in-game console, as it requires the exact coordinates of a player.
Use the command below:
global.drop
A shorthand version of this command (all “global” RUST admin commands do not require using the prefix global):
