The RUST god mode command (god command)
The RUST god mode command, often referred to as “god mode”, allows admin and moderators the ability to take no damage while maneuvering through the game.
- Damage from players, such as gunshots, melee attacks, and thrown objects, will not harm admins with god mode enabled.
- NPCs, such as bears, wolves, boars, chickens, and deer, will continue attacking while god mode is enabled but will not harm admins with god mode enabled.
- AI events, such as the Patrol Helicopter, Bradley APC, and scientists, will also continue to attack but will not harm admins with god mode enabled.
- Status and environmental effects, such as cold, drowning, heat, hunger, radiation, and thirst, will appear on the screen as they are encountered but will not harm admins with god mode enabled.
- Self-inflicted damage and falling from heights will not harm admins with god mode enabled.
- The suicide command will be nullified and ignored while god mode is enabled for all admins.
Here are a few practical reasons for using the RUST god command:
- If admin functions are required while not being impacted by players or server entities.
- When using other commands, such as
noclip, so as not to take damage from barbed wire, drowning, radiation, etc. - Generally avoiding death for any given reason.
Who can enter the RUST god mode command?
The RUST god command can only be issued by RUST admins and moderators on vanilla RUST servers. Players on vanilla servers that want the ability to be granted god mode will need to find a modded server that uses a god mode plugin, such as Godmode, that works for Oxide modded servers and allows the admins to grant god mode to individual players.
How to use the RUST god mode command
Before initiating the god mode command, ensure the admins involved are:
- The RUST god mode command can easily be seen as “admin abuse” when used by admins playing on the server. Stick to admin functions when using god mode.
- Using god mode inappropriately can quickly lead to getting a server blacklisted and/or killing a RUST server’s population with ease.
- When god mode has been enabled, it enables it globally on the server, and all admins will be granted this ability, to communicate that it’s being turned on or off.
- When turning off god mode, the environmental and status effects will immediately kick in. For instance, if radiation status had built-up counters, they will take effect once god mode has been disabled. Be prepared for this.
- Unless the server configuration has been saved, god mode will no longer be in effect when the server restarts.
RUST god mode command syntax
Press the F1 key to first open the in-game console and type in the specific god command syntax listed below, and press enter.
Use the command below to enable god mode:
god true
The command console will then display the following upon success:
global.god: "True"
Use the command below to disable god mode:
god false
The command console will then display the following upon success:
global.god: "False"
